Rep. Aminu Goro represents Kano at NASS constitutional amendment committee

Fagge federal constituency representative at the National Assembly, Comrade Aminu Suleiman Goro has appealed to Kano residents to immediately submit their request for constitutional amendments for the state so as not to be left out in the constitutional amendment exercise.

Comrade Aminu Suleiman Goro who was nominated at the House of Representatives to represent Kano at the 1999 constitutional amendment committee said with the inauguration of the committee by the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, the committee would commence work immediately after the 2021 budget passage.

The federal lawmaker in an exclusive interview with Solacebase on Sunday said a lawmaker from each state was nominated as a member of the committee to represent each state of the federation so as to collect and collate constitution amendment requests from their state of representation to fast track the amendments.

‘’ It is a usual routine for each assembly to carry out constitution amendment so as to meet the yearning and aspirations of the people. So that major review of the constitution can be carried out,  this 9th assembly in strict compliance with that requirement inaugurated the committee, ‘’Aminu Goro said.

‘’Our responsibilities entails our going around the country so as to gather the thoughts and demands of the people in what they needed to be amended in the constitution to make life better for all. The exercise mostly spans almost a year.’’

‘’With this, I want to appeal to our people to put their acts together so that we would not be left behind in formulating what needed to be amended in the constitution for our interest to be protected also.’’

Comrade Aminu Sulyman Goro noted that he would soon meet the state governor and the five emirs so that nobody would be left behind in the exercise.

‘’I intend to meet and engage various associations, civil society organizations, religious, traditional and community leaders on how our interest and request would be collated and forwarded to the committee.’’
