Tiga Dam: Kano assembly urges Ganduje to seek FG’s support for victims of flooding

Kano State House of Assembly has urged the State government to call on  Hadejia/Jama’are River Basin Development Authority and the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency address the overflow of water from Tiga Dam to curtail the menace of further flooding and loss of lives and properties, in the area.

Solacebase had reported the over flow of the Tiga Dam last Thursday that wreck havoc with the destruction of farmlands, roads, houses and displacement of residents in the areas.

The House made the call during plenary session on Monday, presided by the Speaker, Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari.

The House made the call after a joint matters of urgent public interest moved by members of Kiru, Bebeji and Rano Constituencies which was presented to the House by the Deputy Speaker and Member representing Kiru Constituency, Kabiru Hassan Dashi.

The matter was deliberated on the floor and the House adopted the matter and  sympathized with the affected communities and Pray to Allah to prevent such  recurrence.

Similarly at Monday’s session the House received a letter from the State Governor seeking the House approval for the appointment of Chairman and reappointment of five members of Law Reforms Commission which comprises of  Retired Justice Lawan Wada as Chairman of the Law Reforms Commission, Members are Sadiq Garba Muhd, Aliyu Yahaya Rimi, Dr. Muhammad Habib Sale Minjibir, Garzali Aminu Zubairu and Barrister Hauwa Yusuf

The letter was committed to the House Standing Committee on Judiciary and was given a week to report back for further Legislative actions.
