UPDATED: Kano APC Crisis: Appeal Court adjourns for hearing

The Appeal Court division of Abuja has adjourned the suit filed by the Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje faction of the APC in Kano against the Senator Ibrahim Shekarau led group to Friday, January 21,  for definite hearing.

Solacebase reports that the suit is challenging the leadership of the APC in Kano which an FCT High Court upheld the ward and states parallel congresses held by the Senator Ibrahim Shekarau led faction that produced Ahmadu Haruna Dnzago as Chairman, while the Abdullahi Ganduje group had Abdullahi Abbas.

At the sitting of the court on Tuesday, the three man panel of justices asked why the brief of the respondents were not filed in line with the proceeding.

Counsel to the respondents, Barr. Nuraini Jimoh SAN who appeared together with Barr. Ibrahim Idris, SAN, told the court that they were served only four days ago, contrary to section 285 of the constitution in the case of pre-election matters.

The appellants Counsels , Barr. Steve Adehi SAN , Barr. Josephine Abonika SAN, Prof. Mamman Lawan Yusufari SAN and Barr. M.N Duru expressed readiness to go on with the appeal.

According to our correspondent, there are three appeals before the court that has to do with ward , local government and state congresses of the party held in Kano.

The three Justices are B. I. Gafai, Princewell Amadi and Haruna Tsammani.

The presiding judge, Justice Haruna Tsammani ordered the respondent counsel to file their brief before the close of work on Tuesday and then adjourned the matter to Friday.
