The Congress of United Political Party (CUPP) under the chairmanship of Muhammad Abdullahi Raji has distanced itself with regard to the decision made by some its members which were said to be mischievously deceived by the government towards validating the rerun election that Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje emerged victoriously.
Muhammad Raji made the disclosure while briefing newsmen in Kano on Wednesday.
He added that the supplementary elections, was characterized with bunch of questionable antecedents, violence, ballot snatching and non use of card reader.
“We’re here to re-affirmed our supports to PDP of ( Abba Kabiru Yusuf) on the election based on our field data after the election we are also contemplating litigation action by ourselves, we can’t but try to redeem our good names of our political parties,” Raji reiterated
Raji added that the truth of the matter is our members were invited to the government house without telling them the motive of the invitation, but at last their names and signatures ended up in newspaper pages as drumming supports for Ganduje’s victory.
While highlighting on the contentious issue, Chairman of Nigeria Peoples Democracy, NPD, Yunusa Zakari Gaya said he was among the participants of government house gathering, but they were shrouded about the actual reason of inviting them, unknown to them that some among the attendees were subdued towards supporting Governor Ganduje re-election victory.
Adding that, we didn’t receive millions naira as publicly circulated but only given fuel allowances.
“To be truthful we were mischievously deceived by the state government” Gaya insisted.
On his part, Chairman PDC, Kano chapter, Sani Babawo emphasized that we are not part and parcel of the government house skirmishes.
