We would mobilize our people towards having hitch free polls- Gaya emirate assures KANSIEC

The Emir of Gaya Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir has assured Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) support towards conducting hitch-free polls.

Alh Ibrahim Abdulkadir represented by AIG Bashir Abdullahi Albasu (rtd), Makaman Gaya and District Head of Albasu, Alh Abdulkadir Ibrahim made the assertion when he received the management of KANSIEC who called on him in his Palace on Monday.

Solacebase reports that the KANSIEC team were at the emirate to conduct a one-day sensitization exercise for leaders of political parties in the local governments within the emirate preparatory to January 16th 2021 local governments elections.

This was contained in a statement issued by KANSIEC Public Relations Officer, Dahiru Lawan Kofar Wambai on Monday.

‘’The emir maintained that the emirate will mandate village and ward heads to mobilize the people on the need to be peaceful and conduct the electoral process according to the stipulated guidelines expressing optimism on the leadership of the commission to conduct credible elections in the state,’’ said the statement.

It said KANSIEC Chairman, Professor Garba Ibrahim Sheka explained that they were at the emir’s palace to seek royal blessing and intimate him on the forthcoming local governments’ election holding early next year.

‘’At the sensitization venue that was held at Islamic centre Gaya, the KANSIEC commissioner in charge of political parties affairs, Alh Ismaila Rimin Gado said the program is of KANSIEC’s resolve to involve political  party executives at the grassroots and keep them informed on the election process to achieve the desired goals.’’

‘’In his address before the questions and answers session, KANSIEC Chairman, Professor Garba Ibrahim Sheka said the commission plans to tour the five Emirates and have interactive sessions with politicians at the local level so as to make them understand the need to do everything possible to succeed.’’

According to the statement, on behalf of the nine local governments in the emirate, the chairman of Gaya local government, Alh Ahmad  Abdullahi thanked KANSIEC for organizing the educative session and pledged their support in that direction.
