Why we increase operation permit fee for tricycle riders to N100,000- KAROTA

Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) on Wednesday announced a new price of N100, 000.for the registration and permit fee for new entrants into the operation of tricycle riding ( Adaidaita Sahu) in the state.

KAROTA Managing Director, Bappa Babba Dan Agundi hinted of this new fee at a news conference held at the agency headquarters, in Kano.

Solacebase reports that the agency said it has over 60,000 registered tricycle operators in the state noting that the increase in the price of the permit to operate Adaidaita Sahu from N8,000 to N100,000 is a measure to create sanity on roads and reduce the number of operators.

According to him, most of the tricycle operators are coming into Kano from various states since they have seen how lucrative the business is in Kano and the conducive environment.

He noted that those who had registered with N8,000 and has the permit to operate do not need to entertain any fear as the new N100,000 fees does not affect them.

Speaking on the recent court victory on the use of tracker device on tricycles, Bappa Babba Dan Agundi, restated that any tricycle operators without the tracker will be arrested and made to face the full weight of the law.

‘’The court judgement has vindicated us, so it is a must for the tricycle operators to obey the law and register for the tracker device which is to their benefit, ‘’ Baffa said.
