The Vice-Chancellor of Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano, Prof. Mustapha Ahmad Isa has handed over the mantle of leadership of the institution to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics, Prof. Aliyu Musa as acting Vice-Chancellor.
Prof. Mustapha Ahmad Isa performed the handing over on Thursday 14th May, at his office during a briefing to the Principal Officers of the University.
Head, Information, Publications and Public Relations Unit, Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano Abdullahi Abba Hassan stated this on Thursday in a statement sent to Solacebase.
The statement said the ceremony brings to an end the five years tenure of the first substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Mustapha Ahmad Isa, which will expire on Sunday 17th May 2020.

“I wish to hand over the academic and administrative leadership of the University to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics, Prof. Aliyu Musa, pending the appointment of the next substantive Vice-Chancellor”, Prof. Mustapha Ahmad Isa said.
According to the statement, the outgoing Vice-Chancellor highlighted some of his major accomplishments during his five years tenure, which includes Additional Admission Slots, Accreditation of Academic Programmes, Tetfund High impact and other Interventions, Commencement of New Academic Programmes, Establishment of the College of Health Sciences, Magwan and the University Teaching Hospital, Nassarawa, among other projects.
In the statement, Prof. Aliyu Musa, enjoined the staff, students and entire University community to extend the support and cooperation given to him during his tenure to the new acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Aliyu Musa with a view to moving the university forward.

In his acceptance speech, the new acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Aliyu Musa pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him.
He assured his readiness to continue from where the outgoing Vice-Chancellor stopped.
Prof. Aliyu Musa prayed to Almighty Allah to protect and guide the outgoing Vice-Chancellor in his future endeavours.
