The Zango Emirate Council of the Ashanti region in Ghana has distanced itself from the purported appointment of a Kano based Islamic Cleric, Malam Abubakar Mai Rakumi as the Galadima of the council.
In a disclaimer sent to Solacebase on Friday, the Shamakin Kumasi, Alhaji Shu’aibu Sulaiman MB who also doubles as the spokesperson of the traditional institution, noted that the emir of Zongo, Alhaji Umar Farouk Sa’id is not aware of such appointment.
“The emirate council has distanced itself from such fabricated story which contains no iota of truth as the Emir of Zango, Alhaji Umar Farouk Sa’id has never met the person in question, neither has he promised to confer him with any appointment.”
He further disclosed that the matter has already been reported to the relevant authorities and an investigation will be launched as soon as possible.
“We have informed relevant security organizations already and we are committed to finding out how the false information was released as well as who was responsible.”
He called on the general public to disregard the radio jingles being played in some local media stations in Kano, allegedly sponsored by the said Mai Rakumi.
