AIPN advocates establishment of Pharmaceutical Industrial Park in Kano

The Association of Industrial Pharmacists of Nigeria has advocated establishment of a Pharmaceutical Industrial Park in Kano where by pharmaceutical industries will be concentrated in one area, considering the population of the state.

The association said this would help reduce cost of production, economic of scale, provide jobs for the teeming population and stamp out production of fake and  adulterated drugs and also check unwholesome practices in Kano.

The national Chairman Association of Industrial Pharmacists of Nigeria, Mr. Ignatius Anuku stated  in Kano on Tuesday at the 23rd annual conference of the association.

Solacebase reports that a statement issued by the state ministry of health public relations officer, Hadiza Namadi , on Tuesday ,said the association annual conference is holding in Kano for the first time since the establishment of the association about 20 years ago.

In the statement, Mr. Ignatius Anuku was emphatic of the fact that, the importance of the conference is also to increase fight against drug abuse and talk on this year’s world pharmacists day theme :Advancing global health – to call On all and sundry to help pharmacists and all healthcare providers all over the world to rise up to the task in improving the health and quality of life of its populace.

Oon his part,Kano State Commissioner of health, Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa said that budgetary allocation to the health care sector has improved under  Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to about 16% as against the 15% .

The Commissioner represented by Director General, Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency Hisham Imamuddeen emphasized the state government efforts in the mega drug distribution centre  under construction for the relocation of wholesale of drugs and pharmaceuticals to maintain high level of pharmacy practice as approved by the pharmacists council of Nigeria.

Also, Kano State Chairman of the Association, Gidado Yusuf said that the renovation of the pharmacy department of the sir Muhammad Sanusi Specialist hospital Yankaba in the state by the Association of Industrial pharmacists of Nigeria and the donation of free drugs worth about N10 million were testimony to the fact that government cannot do it alone.
