Alleged Forgery: Suspended Kano anti-graft boss leaves police headquarters after interrogation

The suspended Chairman of Kano State Public Complaints and Anti- Corruption Commission, Muhuyi Magaji Rimigado has left the Bompai Police headquarters in Kano after interrogation on alleged forgery case.

Solacebase reports that Muhuyi Magaji Rimigado on Monday honoured invitation by the police over two petitions against him from the state assembly and the accountant general of the state over an alleged forged medical report.

Recalls that the house had invited Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado to appear before it on July 14th after it suspended him as the chairman of the anti-corruption agency on July 5th.

However, on July 14th, Counsel to Muhuyi, Barrister U. U. Fari told reporters after submitting a letter and medical report to the house that his client was sick and could not honour the invitation.

Hence the house wrote to the National Hospital over the medical report submitted.

In a reply dated July 19, 2021, with reference number NHA/CMAC/GC/0117/2021/V.I/01 and signed by the director, Clinical Services, Dr A.A. Umar, the National Hospital said it investigated the documents and discovered that they were not authentic.

With this, Muhuyi’s Lawyers similarly wrote to the Medical Doctor, Bayo Ayodele issuing him 48 hours ultimatum to clarify the medical report he gave him or legal action would be taken against the medical personnel

Solacebase correspondent at the Bompai Police headquarters reports that Muhuyi left the premises of the command at exactly 6.15 pm on Monday in a black Mercedes E-Class with his aides.

Efforts by our correspondent to interview him proved abortive as he declined to talk to the press.

Although a source told Solacebase that during the interrogation, Muhuyi was informed that the two petitions against him from the house of assembly and the accountant general of the state dated Friday, July 23 have to do with the alleged forged medical report submitted to the house.

”The house wrote to the assembly to investigate Muhuyi on the medical report submitted to it and the accountant general also wrote on the same issue that Muhuyi presented a fake medical report.”

”It is funny as when has it become the responsibility of the accountant general of the state, that is not part of the assembly ad-hoc committee to write to the police and complain about the alleged fake medical report,” said the source.

When asked when the police told the suspended Chairman to report back, the source said he was not asked to come back, but rather they (Police) would continue with their investigation.
