APC Congress: Two Chairmen emerge in Kano

…Abbas, Danzango lead factional groups

The crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano has further widen as two Chairmen emerged through separate Congresses.

While  Abdullahi Abbas, former caretaker Chairman of the party and the anointed candidate of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje emerged winner under consensus arrangement, Ahmadu Haruna Danzago equally elected chairman of the Shekarau led APC faction.

Prior to his emergence at the congress held at the Indoor Sport Hall, Sani Abacha Stadium, Abdullahi Abbas was unanimously adopted by the APC stakeholders resolution to return as state chairman.

Discountenance with the arrangement, some aggrieved Federal lawmakers from Kano led by Senator representing Kano Central, Mal. Ibrahim Shekarau had adopted Ahmadu Danzago as factional party leader.

Speaking at the Indoor sport hall, Chairman, Congress committee, APC National headquarters, Abuja, Barr. Auwalu Abdullahi expressed satisfaction on the process and conduct that led to the emergence of Abdullahi Abbas.

He lauded Governor Ganduje for creating enabling atmosphere for the peaceful conduct.

Meanwhile, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in a remark at the congress declared that the Shekarau led state congress as illegal and amounted to nullity.

Ganduje insisted that any other congress held outside the Sani Abacha Indoor sport hall will not stand.

” From the information reaching us, we learnt some disgruntled elements are busy holding congress somewhere. Let me say that whatever they are doing is illegal. We have all the recognized delegates representing the party here. This is the only place APC is holding congress and any other venue must be disregarded”.

Others in Senator Shekaru’s camp include Senator representing Kano North Senatorial District, Senator Barau Jibril, Member representing Dawakin Tofa and Rimingado Federal Constituency, Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, member representing Karate and Rogo Federal Constituency, Barr. Haruna Isa Dederi and member representing Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, Shaaban Ibrahim Sharada.

At the Janguza venue of Shekarau led faction congress leader of delegate from APC National headquarters, Prof. Sani Bello said the conduct of the congress that produced Alh. Danzago was credible.

Speaking on behalf of Senator Ibrahim Shekarau and other aggrieved lawmakers, the Member representing Dawakin Tofa , Tofa and Rimingado Federal Constituency, Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe vowed not to allow anybody or any person to derail the party from the path of victory in the forthcoming general elections.

Jobe appealed to party supporters in the state to rally round the newly elected Chairman in order to deliver the state to the party in the forthcoming general elections.

According to him, “officials from national body have conducted the elections and we have casted our votes. “We (our leader, Senator Ibrahim Shekaru, Senator Barau Jibril , Rep member, Shaaban Ibrahim Sharada and myself) will not allow anybody to derail this party. APC party shall not fail in Kano.

“It will remain a winning party in Kano State. “We call on all supporters in Kano to rally round and support the elected Chairman to ensure we emerge victorious in 2023 just like we did in 2019,” Jobe said.

Before the factional group relocated to Janguza for the parallel congress, the Shekarau led APC were barricaded from the Sani Abacha Youth Centre where security operatives barricaded the place and later tear gas people in the vicinity
