BREAKING: {PHOTOS}: EFCC seals Kwankwaso, another Lawyer’s properties in Kano

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), on Thursday evening marked a property belonging to former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Miller Road, in the metropolis for investigation.

Also, the commission marked a senior lawyer’s property, Barrister Sa’idu TudunWada on Ahmadu Bello way in Kano forcing out the occupants from their offices.

A very reliable source at the EFCC told Solacebase that the marking of the former governor’s property is sequel to an ongoing investigation that linked the property to proceed of corruption during his tenure in office from 2011 to 2015.

Solacebase reports that the building is the hospital complex Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso donated to the state government to serve as an isolation centre during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019 but later became a controversial issue as the state government said it was not aware of such a gesture from the former Senator.

The source noted that there are some petitions against the former governor over corruption and abuse of office citing a petition brought before the commission and signed by one Barrister Mustapha Danjuma and co. on behalf of Engineer Abubakar Maisha’ani and Alhaji Najumai Garba Kobo.

He said the petition dated May 27, 2015, Senator Kwankwaso was accused of receiving contributions of N70 million from each of the 44 local government councils (totalling N3.08billion) towards his presidential primaries in 2015.

Solacebase recalls that in April 2018, an EFCC investigator who pleaded anonymity said “In the course of our investigations some vouchers were discovered from the local government areas showing that each contributed the sum of N70 million towards the 2015 presidential primaries of Rabiu Kwankwaso.’’

Meanwhile, Barr. Saidu Tudun-Wada was livid with anger while speaking with Solacebase on Thursday evening,  said that the EFCC marked his two buildings on Ahmadu Bello way in the metropolis, forcing occupants of the buildings out.

‘’Honestly, I have never in my life witnessed such embarrassment with what happened today in my office, said the senior lawyer.’’

‘’ I was in the office when the EFCC operatives came to my office this evening, marked my office complex and the adjourning building belonging to me. And asked everybody to leave the building immediately.’’

According to Barr. Saidu Tudun-Wada,’’ I have never been involved in any corruption or shady deal, hence I am so surprised with this action.’’

‘’The worst case was that I was never accused nor invited by the commission of any wrongdoing .’’

He vowed to pursue the issue legally to redress the situation.
