BUK Alumni donate N500,000 to support indigent students

Bayero University, Kano BUK Alumni class of 1989, has donated N500,000 to the University for indigent Students’ scholarships so as to support their education.

The president of the association, Dr Kabiru Jinjiri Ringim, made this known on Friday when he led a delegation of members of the association, on a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sagir  Adamu Abbas.

Dr. Jinjiri said, “In an effort to ensure that the needy are supported, especially in the field of education, they have put in place a variety of programs annually, to cater for such.”

In a remark, the Vice Chancellor, Prof.  Sagir Adamu Abbas, lauded the association for the gesture.

Prof. Abbas said the university taking cognizance of indigent Students’ initiated a scheme , on-campus part-time job in which one hundred and twenty five students have been employed in the first instance.

The Vice Chancellor, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Management Services , Prof Mahmud Umar Sani  said the initiative is an effort to assist  the students, promote their welfare and rid them off  financial difficulties.

He noted that the donation came at a right time.
