Constituency Projects: ICPC orders 3 contractors back to site in Kano

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has ordered 3 contractors handling the construction of blocks of classrooms in some primary schools under constituency projects sited in some communities of Kano State back to site immediately over shoddy jobs.

The Chief Assistant Superintendent, ICPC Kano Office, Bukar Galadima gave the order during a constituency and executive projects tracking exercise on Monday.

Solacebase reports that the team during the visit to  Madobi, Kura, Garum Malam federal constituency, observed that  3 primary schools sited in Garum Malam said to have been completed were found with defects and not up to specification according to the contract terms, hence the contractor has been ordered back to the site.

The ICPC monitoring team noticed that the construction of  Garum Malam, Yadakwari,and Dumaji  Primary schools, sponsored by the federal lawmaker was poorly carried out with roofs in bad shape

Similarly during the exercise, the team inspected Garin Dau in Warawa and Shekarau Science primary school in Tarauni under Kano Central Senatorial Zone executed projects in 2020, though, the projects delivered as completed are defective with a leaking roof and without infrastructures such as chairs and other facilities as specified in the contract term.

During the exercise, Solacebase  reports that out of the 7 primary schools inspected by the ICPC team on Monday,  it was observed that only a primary school at Yan Dusa in Dawakin Kudu federal constituency was found to be carried out and completed according to the contract specification

The leader of the team Bukar Galadima sounded a note of warning that should the contractors fail to return to site, they will be compelled to refund the money paid to them and the sponsors also held responsible.
