The Department of State Security on Wednesday arrested former Kano state commissioner for water resources Dr. Yunusa Adamu Dangwani .
Dr. Yunusa Adamu Dangwani who was Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso ‘s Chief of staff when he was Governor of Kano state was said to have been arrested at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport early this morning was on his way to Saudi Arabia for lesser Hajj .
According to a security source Dr. Yunusa Dangwani was arrested over a rumoured Boko Haram attck of Kano last week, after a retired Captain Umar Abdullahi was linked to a text message forwarded to a prominent personality in the state that Boko Haram members will attack the state and he was one of them.
The source said during interrogation retired Captain Umar Abdullahi confessed to have sent the text claiming to be Boko Haram member that will make the state similar to the situation in Kano.
He told security gents that he was engaged to carry out the threat by the former commissioner that paid him N1.5m and in the course of investigation the transaction was linked to Dr. Yunusa Adamu Dangwani that paid him the money.
Although Dangwani was said to have informed the security that he transacted onions with the retired Captain
The Security source said Dr. Yunusa Adamu Dangwani after the arrest has been taken to Abuja for further investigation.
Efforts to speak with the DSS Director in Kano was not successful as his line was not connecting.
