Ex-Director drags TETFUND to court over untimely retirement
By Muhammad Muhammad
A former director with Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), Aminu Abdurrahman Anas has instituted legal action against the fund over his untimely retirement.
Solacebase reports that the aggrieved ex-staff until his untimely retirement, was director Human Resources and General Administration at the fund.
He lamented the cruel injustice inflicted on him while undergoing his PhD program fully sponsored by TETFUND at Aberystwyth University, Wales, UK.
Addressing journalists on the ugly situation in Kano, on Monday, Aminu Anas, an indigene of Warawa local government area of the state disclosed that he joined the services of the fund in the year 2000 after a rigorous recruitment exercise and due for successful retirement in 2022 when he would attain 60 years of age.

Anas who emphasized he had never committed any act of indiscipline or abnormality that would warrant query over the years in the Federal Service, regretted that despite TETFUND spending huge amount of money on his training for his P.hD , he was sent on compulsory retirement based on reform of the organization, without giving back to the system.
The aggrieved ex-staff who vowed to continue to seek justice faulted the excuse in the retirement notice, saying the fund can only terminate appointment of a staff who are on probation or whose appointment are not yet confirmed.
A retirement letter signed by Barrister Abubakar Adam, director HR& GA, TETFUND which conveyed the retirement notice to Anas was sighted by Solacebase.
According to the letter, the fund directed Anas who was in the UK then to proceed on immediate retirement from the service.
According to the letter, Anas’s retirement notice was due to the on-going re-organization of the fund and that the organization no longer need his service.
He was by the letter directed to the director finance to receive three months salaries in lieu of notice and all entitlement due to him.

However, Anas told journalists that he has sought redress at the National Industrial Court, Abuja to redress the injustice.
He said the matter is already slated for hearing on 24th November, 2021.
He applauded the concern of members of house of representatives from Karaye and Gwale Federal constituencies, Kano, Barrister Haruna Isa Dederi and Muhammad Lawal Keke respectively for their concern on the issue.
