The Kano State Consumer Protection Council,(KCPC) has ordered the immediate closure of all restaurant, bakery, table water producing companies and other food processing companies without a health certificate.

The Acting Managing Director of the Council, Alhaji Baffa Babba Dan’agundi gave the directive on Friday afternoon after the expiration of a two weeks grace period issued to all concerned.

This was contained in a statement issued by Council Information Officer, Musbahu Aminu Yakasai, on Friday and sent to Solacebase.

Solacebase recalls that the State Consumer Protection Council, KSCPC, on Thursday, sealed off a restaurant and suya (kebab) spot in the metropolis to curtail the spread of Hepatitis B among their patrons.

The statement said the order became pertinent in view of a recent discovery of Hepatitis-B and other dangerous communicable diseases discovered with workers in some eateries in the metropolis.

‘’Dan’agundi stated that a matching order has been given to his men to clamp down and shut down such premises that are not certified fit to run such business by the State Health Ministry,’’ the statement said.
