ICAN calls for more students enrollment in its examination

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has called for more enrolment in its program so as to increase the number of a chartered accountant in Kano and the northern part of the country.

Newly elected Chairman Kano/Jigawa District Society of ICAN, Dr Abubakar Umar  Farouk made the call on Tuesday when the members paid a visit to Solacebase Multimedia office.

He said the call became pertinent considering the low number of students participating in the institute examination.

The ICAN Chairman explained that over the year, only 7 candidates from Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states took part in the institute Accounting Technician scheme for West Africa( ATSWA).

‘’However presently we have 52 student members who are preparing for the program, meanwhile Lagos at one of its centres’ had over 4,000 candidates writing the same examination, said Dr. Abubakar Umar Farouk.

‘’I am happy to inform you that some philanthropists have granted a scholarship to most of the candidates writing the examination for the next diet.’’

According to him, in the last two diets of the examination, Kano students emerged overall best in West Africa.

The 39th ICAN Chairman for Kano/Jigawa District Society expected to be investiture on Sept. 26, 2020, said September  15th is such a unique day to ICAN as that marked the day ICAN was created in 1965 with an act of parliament number 15.

Also Dr. Abubakar Umar while extolling the good virtue of the Chief Executive Officer, Solacebase Multimedia Abdullateef Abubakar Jos and the kind of support Solacebase online newspaper has been according to ICAN, congratulated the publisher over the inauguration of the new Multimedia office.

Ón his part, Chief Executive Officer, Solacebase Multimedia, Abdullateef Abubakar Jos appreciated the ICAN leadership team on the visit and promised the district and the institute in publicizing their activities for the betterment of the people.
