ICPC to begin another round of constituency projects tracking in Kano

The Independent Corruption Practices and Other Related offences Commission (ICPC) will commence its constituency projects tracking activities in Kano, next week.

ICPC  Commissioner, Kano Zonal office, Barrister Ibrahim Kagara announced this on Friday at a meeting with the team on the third phase of the constituency tracking and monitoring exercise.

Solacebase reports that the constituency projects tracking and monitoring team consist of ICPC officials, Civil Society Organisations, Quantity Surveyors and the media among others.

Kagara said the objectives of the tracking exercise are: to investigate fraudulent procurement practices in the award of contracts for the constituency and executive projects; make recoveries on projects or contracts confirmed to have been inflated or in which contractors under-performed or did not perform at all, and track contracting companies for all statutory compliance.

‘’This is the third phase of the exercise that we are starting in Kano next week and is not aimed at witch-hunting anybody but rather to ensure that the needful is done. And for the populace to get value for their money in projects carried out in the communities,’’ said Kagara.

According to the leader of the team, Bukar Galadima, over 60 projects would be tracked during the exercise to ensure that they are carried out in line with the specification and not over-valued.

He said the rigorous exercise would last for two weeks after which a report on the findings of works carried out will be presented for further actions.

Galadima appeals to the people to cooperate with the team during the exercise as the activities are geared towards a better Nigeria for all.
