Insecurity: FG orders shutdown of telecom services across Zamfara
Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has ordered the shutdown of Telecommunication Companies in Zamfara State to enable security operatives’ discharge their duties, over increasing insecurity bedevilling the state.
Solacebase reports that the decision was sequel to a letter written by the Zamfara State Government to the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy dated August 31, 2021 and with reference number GHG/OEG/ADM?10/Vol.1.
This was contained in a letter signed on Friday by Prof. Umar G. Danbatta, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the NCC and directed to one of the telecom company.
The letter titled “Re: Shutdown of All Telecom Sited in Zamfara State” directed the shutdown of all its sites in the State and neighbouring states.

According to the statement, “The pervading security situation on Zamfara State has necessitated an immediate shutdown of all telecommunications services in the state from today September 03, 2021. This is to enable relevant security agencies to carry out required activities towards addressing the security challenges in the state”
