Six members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APC) in the Anambra State House of Assembly have defected to the All Progressives Congress ahead of the state’s upcoming governorship election.
The six-state lawmakers include; Hon. Nonso Okafor, representing Nnewi North, Hon. Timothy Ifedioramma, representing Njikoka 1, Hon. Cater D. N Umeoduagu, representing Aguata 1, Hon. Lawrence Ezeudu, representing Dumekofia, Hon. Arthur Chiekwu, representing Idemmih North and Hon. Edward Ibuzo, representing Onisha North 2.
Chairman APC Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and Yobe state Governor Mai Mala Buni, have received the lawmakers and immediately presented with the APC flag at the end of a strategic meeting held behind closed doors.
Mai Mala Buni, while receiving the new APC members at a brief event Tuesday evening in Abuja, reaffirmed the party’s determination to win the Anambra governorship election, citing the party’s zeal in engaging critical stakeholders in the state.

Governor Buni said: “Mere looking at what is happening, especially now that so many prominent and serving state lawmakers have started joining, the grassroots is moving and Anambra people are moving to the APC.”
Also speaking, Imo state governor Hope Uzodinma, said the Southeast people have woken up and the region is committed to national politics and be part and parcel of Nigeria.

He also expressed confidence that his party will win Anambra state governorship election.
The defectors described the All Progressives Congress as Nigeria’s chosen political party, promising to mobilize support in the run-up to the November 6 governorship elections.
The brief ceremony held at Imo State Governor’s Lodge was attended by top members of the party including, the Governors of Lagos, Osun, Kogi and Imo states.
