Kano Confirms 28 Death In Cholera Outbreak With 50 Hospitalize Cases

Kano state government has confirmed that the state has recorded 28 deaths in the state between the month of January and July this year as a result of 400 cases of acute watery diarrhea recorded in the state with 50 confirmed cases of cholera across 33 Local Government Areas of the State.

The State Commissioner of Health Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso confirmed this on Tuesday to reporters during a news conference.

Solacebase had last week reports on the suspected outbreak of cholera in Bebji and Gwarzo local government areas where about 10 person died of the disease and thirty others hospitalize in Bebeji while about 8 persons and 20 hospitalized in Gwarzo local government areas.

According to  him, the state Government through his ministry has instituted several control measures to check  the outbreak which is currently experienced in 17 states of the federation, Kano inclusive.

“As you might be aware, the country is currently experiencing increased incidence of acute watery diarrhea and an ongoing cholera outbreak in 17 states.

“The sum of N32 Million Naira has been provided to tackle the outbreak, Rapid Respond Team has been  set up as well as mounting of continues surveillance for all epidemic prone diseases.
