Kano Govt is abusing court processes- Lawyer alleges
Kano State Government has been urged to desist from disobeying court processes through acting on matters before the court.
A legal practitioner, Bashir Yusuf Muhammad gave the advice in a letter dated September, 16th,2020 and addressed to Kano State Attorney General and Ministry of Justice over what it described as acting on matters before a court, which is against the rule of law, abuse of power and contrary to legal doctrine.
According to the letter, the legal practitioner, Barr. Bashir Yusuf Muhammad said his client had instituted a case against Kano State Government and 4 others over sales/divert a multi storey car park at Shaushi by Murtala Muhammad Hospital and also a public institution known as Hospitality and Tourism Institute at former Daula Hotel ,Kano.
The letter said the plaintiff in the suit is asking the court to declare the action illegal , null and void.

Solacebase reports that the plaintiff in the suit ,challenging the sale of Institute of Tourism and Hospitality situated at Daula Hotel Kano is Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf and the defendants are Kano State Government, Alh. Mudassir Idris Abubakar, Mudassir & Brothers Nig. Ltd, Kano State Bureau for Land Management and Attorney General of Kano State.
Also, in the other suit seeking nullification of sale of ,a multi storey car park situated at Shahuci by Murtala Muhammad General Hospital , Kano the plaintiff is Alhaji Abba Kabiru Yusuf and the defendants are Kano State Government, Mudassir & Brothers Nig. Ltd, El-Samad Nig. Ltd, Kano State Bureau for Land Management, Ministry of Works and Infrastructural Development, Kano State, Ministry of Housing and Transport, Kano state and Attorney General of Kano State.
The letter said after the last sitting of the court on August, 27th whereby the court did not sit and had to adjourned to October,29th for the hearing of motion on notice.
However, it said despite all this and to their surprise the state government is consistently and continuously tempering with the subject matters.
The letter cited the case of A.G. Lagos State V Ojukwu, noting that the court condemned the attitude of Lagos State Government for refusal to respect court processes served on it.
It appealed to the Attorney General as the Chief Law office of the State to advice the government appropriately as any move to sale/divert, build or destroy the property amount to disrespect of the court.
