Kano lifts 24 hours curfew

Kano State Government has directed the commissioner of police to lift the 24-hour curfew imposed on the state since Wednesday.

SOLACEBASE had reported that the state government announced the imposition of 24 hours curfew after the governorship tribunal judgement to forestall the breakdown of law and order.

Addressing journalists on Thursday, Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, said Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf said the lifting of the curfew was based on the peaceful atmosphere observed in the state and for residents to go about their normal activities.

Dantiye appealed to the people to maintain peace and collaborate with the security agencies to ensure peaceful coexistence.

Also confirming the development, the state police commissioner, Muhammad Usaini Gumel through the command spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed to SOLACEBASE that the curfew has been lifted and residents can go about their businesses peacefully.
