KAROTA Intercepts Truck Load Of Alcoholic Drinks Worth N15m

The Kano State Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA), on Thursday, intercepted a truckload of alcoholic drinks worth N15 million in the state.

The truck conveying over three hundred crates and cartons of assorted alcoholic drinks was pursued by men of the agency while on duty along Zaria road at about 3am after the driver escaped and drove to Sabon Gari Area of the State.

According to a statement issued by the agency Public Relation Officer Nabilusi Abukar, K\Na’isa, on Thursday and sent to Solacebase said the KAROTA men on patrol sought the help of the police who assisted them in the chase and subsequent confiscation of the vehicle after the driver and passengers fled and abandoned the truck when they realized that the police and KAROTA personnel were closing in on them.

‘’The truck and its entire contents were driven back to the Traffic Agency and was subsequently handed over to the Kano State Hisbah Board for further actions while efforts are being made to apprehend the fleeing driver and passengers of the truck,’’ said the statement.

The statement noted that KAROTA has a reward package for anyone who assists in the arrest of people with illicit deals and elements in the state.
