‘Kwankwaso Left N850 Million Debt Owed Media Organisations’ -KNSG

The administration Former Kano state Governor, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso left debt owed various media organisations in the country amounting to over N850 million.

Briefing newsmen about the outcome of the  successful national conference on hate speech in kano by Nigeria Union of Journalists in his office, the state Commissioner of information, youth and culture Malam Muhammad Garba said the huge amount of money was for various adverts, recorded and live program and announcements by the immediate past administration.

Muhammad Garba said Kwankwaso was alleged to used the  money within six months to secure his nomination as the APC  presidential candidate, putting the media organizations in a very difficult situation due to lack of payments of their adverts and other sponsored program.

He however explained that despite the financial situation of the country, the state government is gradually paying media organizations to continue playing their role as watchdog of society for strengthening of democracy.

He therefore thanked the media organizations for their patience and understanding as the government is making efforts to settle all their outstanding payments.

The Commissioner added the administration of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje will continue to work closely with media organizations to enable them discharge their constitutional responsibilities.
