Murtala Garo empowers 430 vulnerable in Kano

Kano State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo has identified poverty and unemployment as factors responsible for youth restiveness and increasing social menace.

Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo stated this on Sunday in Kabo Local Government Area, where he empowered 430 youths and women with over N7.5m.

The Commissioner who was represented by Kano state ALGON Chairman and Nasarawa Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Lami Sani said 215 youths were given N20,000 each while 215 women also got N15,000 each.

He said that the empowerment scheme and the selection of the beneficiaries is devoid of party affiliations.

Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo noted that the support would be a continuous exercise aimed at eradicating poverty.

‘’I am appealing to you to judiciously utilize this fund so as to be gainfully employed, ‘’said Murtala Garo.

Solacebase reports that some of the beneficiaries who were too emotional with the gesture promised to use the money positively and not betray the confidence reposed in them.
