NAWOJ honours FUK VC, Prof. Umaru Pate with award of excellence

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), has awarded the Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Kashere, Gombe State, Professor Umaru Pate (Kaigamma of Adamawa), with ‘Award of Excellence’ for service to humanity.

Solacebase reports that the award presentation took place on Thursday, at an event marking the 32nd anniversary of NAWOJ held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

The theme of the NAWOJ @32 event was “Leadership with a difference, setting the pace for a better future.’’

NAWOJ National President, Ladi Bala, said that the award was in recognition of the immense contribution of Prof. Umaru Pate to human development and Communications study

She said NAWOJ was launching an endowment fund to care for indigent and vulnerable children in Nigeria.

She also solicited support towards the actualization of the course.

The National President also tasked members to Increase the voice of women in leadership through their reportage.

Delivering a Keynote lecture titled “Leadership with a difference, setting the pace for a better future,” Prof. Umar Pate, emphasised the need for proper education of the girl child for a better Nigeria.

Pate said that leadership was a burden and leaders must always take responsibility.

Some of the other award recipients were the Nigerian first lady, Hajia Aisha Buhari, former Nigerian first lady, late Maryam Babangida, gender friendly governors, serving and former senators, heads of agencies amongst others.
