No plan to suspend Saraki- PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Kwara State, has denied rumours that it is planning to suspend the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
PDP stated this in a communique signed by the state party Chairman, Babatunde Mohammed and the state Secretary, Abdulrazaq Lawal, on Sunday.
SOLACEBASE gathered that the suspension rumour was among other issues tied to alleged misappropriation of fund at the 2023 general elections by the former number three citizen of Nigeria.
Sources at the party said Bukola Saraki allegedly collected funds from the national headquarters of the party for the prosecution of elections in Kwara State but did not release same to the party at the state level.
In the communique issued after the State Working Committee meeting in Ilorin, the party urged members to be calm and disregard the rumoured suspension of the former two-term governor of the state.
The communique reads, “We urge our party members and supporters to be calm and discountenance the purported rumoured suspension of our leader, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki, by the State Working Committee members as mischievously circulated by some people aimed at causing disharmony in the party.”
It added that the enlarged meeting called on June 1, 2023, to review the outcome of the 2023 general elections, “was misconstrued or misrepresented by some disgruntled elements.”
