NIPR citizens summit holds 14th Oct in Kano, to address insecurity, disaffection among Nigerians

Worried by the spate of insecurity and moves towards disintegration in the country, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has  advanced urgent measure to prevent the country from sliding into anarchy.

Solacebase reports that the professional body entrusted with image and reputation management has fixed 14th October, 2021 to hold Citizens Summit for National Integration, Peace and Security, North West zone in Kano to address the national issues.

Addressing journalists on Wednesday in Kano, NIPR peace summit Coordinator in the zone, Dr. Sule Ya’u Sule raised concern over the disenchantment and out pour of agitation from across ethnic nationalities, religious group and other interest bodies in the country.

Dr. Sule emphasized that beside the security threat, Nigeria is witnessing a  terrible time where citizens nagged in loud voice of mistrust and misconception in the society, a development begging for urgent attention.

In a bid to finding possible solution to these issues and others, the university don disclosed that NIPR is providing veritable platform to ventilate concern from various strata of the society.

The North West summit which involves participation of seven states of Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Jigawa, Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi, according to the coordinator will draw views from religious and traditional leaders, interest and ethnic groups on challenging national issues.

Dr. Sule who clarified that despite the involvement of states government and political actors from the states in the zone, the summit is devoid of any political coloration whatsoever.

He explained that the summit which would hold across the six geopolitical zones of the country would further draw national summit in November, where views collated across the zones would be aggregated and forwarded to the presidency for possible implementation.

” As professional body we are providing platform to discuss our problems and possible solutions. Our trade enabled us the latitude to create mutual understanding, maintain and improve enduring relationship.

” Having observed with critical concern the growing mistrust, misconception and disaffection between the citizens and constituted authority, amidst security threat bedeviling the country, NIPR came up with the summit to bring together all segment of the society, ethnic, religious, traditional, youth, women, market woman and other stakeholders to ventilate views and solutions to the nation’s challenges.
