Raging Insecurity: Gains of admitting failure ,losses of scapegoating syndrome by Adamu Aminu

The increasing spate of insecurity bedevilling some states of the federation, such as Sokoto, Zamfara, Borno, Niger and Kaduna is quite becoming very alarming and saddening development in the country.

The recent avoidable incessant killings in Kadisau village, Faskari local government in Katsina state and another heinous massacre in Gubio local governments, Borno state has solidly served as a testimony to Nigerians that President Mr Integrity seems to be losing the power grip towards protecting the lives and properties of his citizenry, as he had confidently promised during the electioneering campaign.

Unfortunately, the spate of insecurity particularly in the North speaks a lot about the state of the natíonhood which no one ought to be comfortable with.

Traditionally, African leaders are professionally known for apportioning or shifting blames to others on account of failure to surmount national predicaments.

Moreover, scapegoating has become part and parcel of the psyche of our leaders when they reach the brink of losing the power grip towards nipping the bud of an unsolved dilemma.

As the scenario is glaringly manifesting itself in today’s Nigerian context, with regards to spikes of insecurity bedevilling the north.

Fortunately, the embattled, Katsina state governor Alh. Aminu Bello Masari has set records of breaking the jinx of admitting the failure of protecting the lives and properties of his people due to overwhelming, unholy alliance of emboldening, heavily armed-bandits terrorizing the state.

The situation had even gone to the extent of the septuagenarian governor, openly admitting the failure, saying that he doesn’t have the dignity to look at Katsinawa’s face for failing them woefully.

Inarguably, the stand was taken by Governor Masari of branding himself as the leader of a big failure to his people, this would reduce the pinch of salt deserves to add on the injury.

But, despite taking such compromising stand, Governor Aminu Bello Masari’s name would be indelibly written in the history book as a Katsina leader who irrationally compromised with the armed-bandits, whose repercussion has eventually turn to catastrophic dimension to his people by dialoguing with bandits.

But, it is grossly unfortunate, with regard to the current insecurity in the north, Mr Integrity and President Muhammadu Buhari still maintaining the culture of African leaders – scapegoating and blame-apportioning to other areas as it has reflected in his last June 12 broadcast to the nation saying that ” I regret the recent tragic loss of lives in Katsina and Borno states as a result of COVID-19 restrictions”

Whereas, Mallam Garba Shehu, president’s senior special assistant on media publicity accused “some traditional rulers in Katsina state of aiding armed-bandits in carrying out their heinous attack on innocent people in the state.

This is rationally cleared that Mr Integrity and his senior trumpet resisted to admits failure on the spate of raging insecurity in the north,  instead apportioned blames to others,  scapegoating, which would not augur well on the confidence people reposed in Buhari administration.

Admitting failure and apologizing from mortal being is so encouraging and people can easily forgive.

It is not too late for President Muhammadu Buhari and his subordinate to wake up from their weighty slumber to address the raging insecurity engulfing, particularly northern Nigeria including his homestead

President Muhammadu Buhari should remember that – finding a solution is the essence of what leadership exist. A credible leader is a path-finder, not a fault-finder.

Otherwise, the name of the nation’s redeemer from the shackles of insecurity would be likely seen as the opposite.
