The suspended chairman of Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission, PCACC, Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, has accused the state police commissioner, Sama’ila Shuaibu Dikko of playing politics in the move to arrest him.

Solacebase had earlier reported that Kano Police Command confirmed laying siege to the residence of the suspended chairman of Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission, PCACC, Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, on Sunday.

The command Image Maker, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said ‘’ Our men were at the house to serve him an invitation but we could not do that as they refused us to do so.’’

He said the invitation was sequel to the court order dismissing the suit filed by the suspended anti-graft chairman seeking order to stop his arrest.

Rimingado was reacting to the siege laid to his residence by the police on Sunday , noting that the pretext of serving him an invitation is not correct.

He told Solacebase on Monday that the Police normally phone him to present himself if his attention is needed and that has mostly being the channel of communication between him and the police.

‘’ I was surprised when I was informed that there was a siege on my house with most of those involved wearing mufti and only one of them wearing a T-Shirt with Commando inscription on Sunday night, ‘’Muhuyi said.

He noted that the Police Commissioner was on December 9^th, 2021 stopped an anti-corruption day celebration where Muhuyi Magaji was to address participants at the last minute just for the involvement of the suspended anti-graft chairman.

Speaking to Solacebase on the development , Counsel to Muhuyi Rimingado , Barr. Rilwan Zakariyya, who expressed surprise on the siege carried out on his client’s residence on Sunday, said the matter is still in court as the hearing for stay of execution on the ruling of the Federal High Court was heard today.

He said after the sitting of the court today, Justice Jane Iyang adjourned the matter for ruling to June 3^rd, 2022.

Hence he see no reason why the police would be acting as if under instruction to arrest his client knowing the fact that the matter is still in court as they were served notice.

On March 1, a Federal High Court sitting in Kano dismissed an ex parte application filed by Mr Rimingado, seeking to stop an investigative panel instituted by Kano State House of Assembly and restrain the police from investigating, arresting or intimidating him, pending the hearing and determination of subsisting court action instituted at state high court.

Recall that the Kano State House of Assembly had invited Mr Rimingado to appear before its ad-hoc committee investigating a petition against him on July 14, 2021.

But Mr Rigingado, while citing health grounds and attaching medical records to the letter, demanded a certified true copy of the petition the assembly received against him and requested for more time appear.

On July 19, the National Hospital wrote to the Kano State House of Assembly, saying the medical records he presented to the House were fake.

In its reply dated July 19, 2021 with reference number NHA/CMAC/GC/0117/2021/V.I/01 and signed by the director, Clinical Services, Dr. A.A. Umar, the National Hospital said it investigated the documents and discovered that they were forged.

Mr Rimingado was suspended last July after opening probe on financial scandals and inflated contracts allegedly awarded to some companies linked to the governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s family.
