Rurum had resigned as speaker of the assembly in July 2017 over allegations of bribery
The motion for Ata’s impeachment was raised by Labaran Madari, member representing Warawa constituency, and seconded by Abdullahi Muhammed, the lone member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the assembly.
The former deputy Speaker of the house, Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari has now emerged the new deputy,while the Chief Whip Baffa Baba Dangundi is now the Majority Leader. Also Kabiru Alhassan Dashi representing Kiru is now Deputy Majority Leader
The 40-member Assembly resumed on Monday from two-month recess.
On May 15, 24 members of the assembly commenced impeachment proceedings against Attah but the state governor intervened in the crisis.
