JUST IN: Gov. Yusuf nominates Kwankwaso’s son, 3 others as commissioners

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has nominated Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, son of NNPP Presidential Candidate in the 2023 general elections, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and three others as commissioner-nominees.

SOLACEBASE reports that in a letter to the Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf seeks approval of the house to appoint Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, Abduljabbar Umar Garko, Shehu Sule Aliyu Karaye and Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso as commissioners and members of the state executive council.

One of the commissioner nominees, Adamu Aliyu Kibiya,  was a former commissioner for Lands, who was suspended for making derogatory statements on elections petition tribunal judges,.

While Mustapha is the first son of former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and a brother-in-law to governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The letter reads in part, ’’In accordance with the powers conferred on me by the Constitution of

Republic of Nigeria and based on established procedure, I wish to

request the kind consideration and approval of the Honourable House to

appoint four Commissioners and members of the Executive Council.’’

‘’The request is hereby forwarded for approval by the Kano Assembly.

The speaker of the house, Jibrin Ismail Falgore who read the letter at plenary on Tuesday later announced the commencement of vacation of the house and its resumption on April, 2nd, 2024

The assembly is set to screen the nominees on April 2nd, 2024.
