The Debate/Dialogue committee between the controversial Kano-based Islamic cleric, Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara, and the Coalition of Ulama, has recommended to the Kano state government to take appropriate action against the controversial cleric.
Chairman of the dialogue session, Prof. Salisu Shehu, who is also the Director, Centre for Islamic Civilization and Inter-faith Dialogue, Bayero University Kano stated this in a communique, signed by him and two others issued after the debate on Saturday.
Solacebase reports that the debate between Abduljabbar and the Ulama was organized by the state government following a persistent outcry from concerned Islamic clerics and members of the public over Abduljabbar Kabara’s controversial preachings and his request so as to give him a fair hearing.
Solacebase recalls that on February 5th,2021, a Kano Chief Magistrate Court ordered for the closure of the mosque of Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasir Kabara and for the cleric to desist from further preaching.
The court said the order was sequel to an oral application by the applicant Counsel, Barr. Wada A. Wada from the office of the Attorney General of Kano State.
Also, the court ordered Abduljabbar Nasir Kabara, to stop all preachings and unguarded utterances calculated to cause a breach of public peace in Kano.
The communique stated that while giving a verdict on the debate, Prof. Shehu pointed out that Abduljabbar failed to answer all the questions he was asked in all six rounds satisfactorily.

It said that Abduljabbar instead mixed up the issues, going off track and introducing irrelevant topics.
Prof. Sheu in the communique recommended that the state government should take a necessary line of action to ensure peace, law, and order in the state.
It noted that during the session a total of six question-and-answer series were conducted with equal allocation of time to both sides.
The communique noted that all the questions were raised from the audio recordings of Abduljabbar preachings in which he was asked to respond, but his response were contrary to what he was asked.
“All the Hadith Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara quoted were found to be wrongly translated and interpreted, while some were weak.

“None of the representatives of the Coalition of Ulama was satisfied with each of the responses of Abduljabbar.
