Kwankwasiyya Scholarship Beneficiaries Depart For Sudan, Dubai

The Kwankwasiyya Foundation in Kano State on Thursday offered scholarships to nine indigent students to study second degrees in selected universities in Sudan and Dubai.

Addressing the students shortly before their departure in Kano, Leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and former governor of the state, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, said the beneficiaries were the last batch of the 370 students sponsored by the Foundation to study master’s degrees in selected universities in India and other countries across the globe.

“This is a historic day for us because it is in fulfilment of our promises to continue to sponsor women and youths to further their studies, ” Kwankwaso said.

He charged the beneficiaries to be serious with their studies, and to be good ambassadors of the state and the country, while in Sudan and Dubai.

According to him, the Foundation had already paid their school fees, accommodation, feeding and pocket money, in order to make them comfortable to enable them to face their studies.

Also speaking, the PDP Governorship candidate in the 2019 general election, Alhaji Abba Kabir-Yusuf, urged the students to be good ambassadors of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Kano State and Nigeria, adding that anyone of them who did anything bad would not go scot-free.

“Foundation will monitor your performances in the schools, ” he said.

The representatives of parents of the beneficiaries in their separate remarks, Alhaji Tahir Abdullahi and Hajiya Salamatu Aliya commended the Foundation for the kind gesture.

Also speaking, a renowned Islamic scholar in the state, Sheik Ibrahim Daurawa, cautioned the students against acts capable of denting the image of the state.

NAN reports that of the nine beneficiaries, seven are going for a second degree in Islamic Studies and the Arabic language in Sudan, while the remaining two would study Business administration in Dubai. (NAN)
